Solutions to Improve Hearing
Not every hearing loss requires a hearing aid. We work with patients to find the best possible solution for each unique situation.
Hearing Evaluations: Baseline hearing evaluations for adults and children help our patients better understand how hearing loss has impacted their lives.
Having problems hearing?
Has it been awhile since your last hearing evaluation?
CHS is here for you!
A hearing evaluation provides a baseline of your hearing status. It not only indicates if a hearing loss is present, but also identifies the type of hearing loss you may have. This non-invasive test evaluates the outer, middle, and inner ear for damage. If you have noticed trouble hearing family and friends in conversation, or are constantly having to turn up the TV, contact us to schedule a hearing test for further examination.
Hearing Aid Selection: When hearing aids are the solution, we work with patients to find a design that fits with their lifestyle desires, including appearance, features and price point.
Not sure which hearing aid is right for you?
We can help you decide!
If a hearing aid is recommended for you, this appointment determines which type of hearing aid is right for your hearing loss, your lifestyle and your budget. After you are fit with hearing aids, our audiologists can make any necessary adjustments if your prescription needs change over time.
Hearing Aid Fittings: The hearing aids need to be properly fitted to your ears so that they provide the correct amount of amplification to maximize hearing aid benefit.
Not sure why you have to come back for a Fitting?
We need to make sure that it’s just right!
A successful hearing aid fitting is more than just selecting the correct device for your hearing needs. The hearing aids need to be properly fitted to your ears so that they provide the correct amount of amplification to maximize hearing aid benefit.
At the hearing aid fitting appointment, your audiologist will verify that the hearing aids are providing the correct amount of amplification. First, a thin tube will be inserted into your ear canal. This tube is connected to a microphone that will measure the volume of sound near your eardrum without any hearing aid device in your ear. Next, your hearing aid will be inserted in your ear taking care not to move the probe tube microphone already in your ear canal. Once the hearing aid is turned on, your audiologist will measure how loud the sound is at the output of your hearing aid in your ear.
Proper verification of your hearing aid settings is integral to a successful hearing aid fitting.
Hear the Cheers Program: Provides hearing aids and related audiology services to kids so they can continue to participate in sports and activities.
HEAR THE CHEERS CELEBRATES 13 YEARS!
Sarah Spain and Eliza Peters are thrilled to celebrate the 13th year of Hear The Cheers (HTC)! HTC has raised over $365,000 and provided equipment and services to over 130 kids. All money donated goes directly to providing hearing aids and related audiology services to children so they can continue to participate in sports and activities. Insurance usually doesn’t cover the cost of hearing aids, which can make them a tremendous financial burden for families. We believe every child deserves the chance to hear their coaches, teammates, classmates, and teachers. We believe every child deserves the chance to “Hear The Cheers!”
Donations can be made online and are tax-deductible. Thank you for all the love and support for a cause that’s so near and dear to our hearts.
Pediatric Hearing Aids: Children are unique. Some are born with hearing loss that is identified through newborn hearing screening and some develop hearing loss later in childhood. We can help.
Nervous or unsure about your child’s Hearing Aid appointment?
CHS is here for you!
Children are unique. Some are born with hearing loss that is identified through newborn hearing screening and some develop hearing loss later in childhood due to infection, medication side effects, a genetic condition or exposure to loud noises. If you suspect that your child has a hearing loss, schedule your appointment today so that your child can be tested.
If a pediatric hearing aid is recommended, remember that young brains are developing rapidly. Know that pediatric hearing aids are more durable, are compatible with FM and assistive devices, battery cases are tamper-resistant so that your children stay safe, and often have an LED light so that you know the aid is working.
CHS audiologists can provide you with support and resources for you and your child, beyond amplification.
Cochlear Implant: When hearing aids are not enough we offer Cochlear Implant services in conjunction with the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital.

Musician, Swimmers & Specialized Ear Plugs
Preserving your hearing is important! CHS offers custom earplugs for musicians, hunters, swimmers, and many other needs.
- Loud music can degrade hearing over time. We lose clarity in our hearing and even get tinnitus. 45 million Americans experience ringing in their ears and there is no cure. We have solutions that can help you manage and cope with your tinnitus.
- Doctors recommend swim ear plugs for those with ear tubes, ear infections, when diving, swimming in untreated water, or if you have had previous surgery. Custom ear plugs keep the ear dry and prevent bacteria from getting into the ear.
