Are you an interpreter or a professional and want to learn about the DeafBlind Community? Join CHS for our first workshop “Falling Into the DeafBlind World”.
Learning Objectives:
• Experience various types of vision loss through simulation activities
• Learn the four major groups of DeafBlind consumer communication
• Identify the appropriate types of communication for effective interpreting and when to use them.
• Contrast the duties and responsibilities of Support Service Provider (SSP}/Co-Navigator (CN} and Interpreter
• Illustrate sighted guide techniques used when working with DeafBlind individuals
• Learn the lexical variation within the DeafBlind community and etiquette when working with the DeafBlind consumers
• Learn to enhance a DeafBlind person’s experience by providing visual information.
Workshop is presented in ASL. No voice interpreting will be provided.
